Takahisa Suda and his wife Yoko Kamiyabu run the Japanese style salon, "AIREYA".
I would like to share with all of you how naturally and fashionably they wear KIMONO on a daily basis.
Originally, Kimono used to be our daily uniform in Japan and it was nothing special about wearing Kimono itself, at all.
It was after the WWII that the perception toward Kimono was changed.
Nowadays, most Japanese young people think that Kimono is expensive, something formal, and need some skills to wear it in a "proper" way.
However, Suda san and Yoko san wear Kimono as their "everyday casual clothes".
Interviewing them in the beautiful salon, AIREYA, I was gradually made to think myself not wearing Wafuku (literally means Japanese clothes; other name for Kimono) is unnatural but their Kimono style looked completely natural and was flattering their allure.
AIREYA has irregular holidays. Contact them before you visit.
